I worked as a Registered Nurse in several Psychiatric units and community teams during my ten-year nursing career. I put my career on hold when I had my first child and did not return to work before having my second child. My hope now is to use my experience working in mental health, along with my experience being a mother, to serve and counsel my community and beyond

Providing specialized service to community members who require assessment, crisis stabilization and treatment.
Connecting people with the services that most fit their ongoing needs in the community and aiding to de-mystify these services and bridge the gaps between them.
Working with physicians and psychiatrists, reporting assessment findings, observations and recommendations.

Crisis Response Team (CRT), Community Mental Health; June 2012 - Sept. 2021

Providing crisis support on an on call basis.
Providing safe withdrawal management support.
Connecting people to appropriate Mental Health and Substance Use services programs, hospital and/or community treatment and recovery services for all age groups.

Assessing clients on a regular basis for change in mental status and suicide risk and documenting findings.
Focusing on client centered care using communication skills and therapeutic techniques over medications when possible.

I enjoy spending time with children, gardening, writing and homesteading on Lasqueti Island in my spare time.
